Small business owners gathered together Wednesday afternoon focused on unleashing the American entrepreneurial spirit and collaborating on programs that are putting people back to work around the country.
Kansas City, Missouri was highlighted as a success story because of a microfinance program funded by different small business administration programs that did not strain city funds. A series of town hall meetings across the city allowed citizens to speak out and join in the process.
Kansas City found that owners of different backgrounds required different needs and that “one size fits all” solutions would not work. They also discovered that traditional routes to funding were closed for many. The use of the microlending sources worked well as the council in Kansas City was able to provide needed minority business funding support through collaboration with a federal entity. These programs got people back to work.
The Business Council of Northern Virginia pioneered combining common sense education and efficient government opportunities through the funding of strategic events. The Business Council recognized that the middle class is the backbone of the American economy and they needed a different approach.
The Small Business Council highlighted the need to give better alternatives and enhanced pathways to increasing the American culture of entrepreneurship. Each speaker hammered home the need to expand employment in the private sector through small businesses that will continue the American comeback started under President Barack Obama.
The Small Business Administration (#SBA) is one of the keys to accessing information and creating new opportunity for small businesses nationwide.
