About West Virginia v. EPA:
Some of the most consequential action—or inaction—on climate change happens at the state level. And despite the fact that a majority of Americans support government efforts to cut carbon emissions, 27 states have mounted a legal challenge attempting to block the Clean Power Plan. The case, led by West Virginia, seeks to overturn the landmark carbon pollution standards by arguing that the Environmental Protection Agency does not have the authority to take this action. This is despite the fact that a previous Supreme Court decision granted the EPA such authority. Seventeen other states filed a motion to intervene to defend the Clean Power Plan in its current legal battle.
