The New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® is proud to endorse Desiree Charbonnet for Mayor of New Orleans. Here are a few reasons why Desiree Charbonnet is the best candidate to move housing forward:

Desiree opposes the Rental Registry & Inspection Program ordinance. She believes that everyone should have access to quality affordable housing, but recognizes this can be done through other means, including an improved Code Enforcement process and enforcement of existing housing and code laws.

Desiree has a plan to create dedicated funding for the creation of new affordable housing units – a plan that is fiscally sound, smart, and recognizes that housing costs and economic development go hand-in-hand. She also knows that the best policies to move New Orleans forward cannot simply be copied from San Francisco or New York – they have to be right for the needs of our people and our unique community.

Desiree recognizes that it is not enough to simply increase affordable housing units; New Orleanians who purchase affordable units must also be able to build equity in their homes in order to move out of poverty and into the middle class.

Desiree understands that REALTORS® are experts in housing and the community, and she wants to partner with NOMAR to identify areas where we can collaborate with City Hall to help improve our community, including reducing blight, fixing title issues, and encouraging major businesses to offer incentives to their employees to become homeowners in New Orleans.
